Divergence Poem by A.Z. McCoy

Divergence

While I searched labyrinth
For a kitestring of hope,
You grew strong in machine's
churn, locating pulse,
Electromantic din and eloquent
Echoes from tomorrow
An ellipse running on
Sweet marrow, this land
Brought us each to mirror
and while I wished
a funhouse, all turned torn
shanty in my eyes.
What tremulous vapor surprised
you? Did it skirt the reflective,
or cant and angle along
all the machine's seductive melodies
Planted across these walls?
My whisper waits
for your child, whom might
stretch sight beyond
the highways, find heaven's
Mosaic in paved concourse
Down a litter-strewn alley take flight.
