Divorce

Enmity filled in each other’s faces
As a slap flew across the cheek
More and more heated debates
Was all they could ever seek

Over the interminable and drastic years
The cycle repeats itself again
Anger filled in his narrowed mind
Frustration flowed in her limited brain

He finally had enough of this
He called a divorce at last
The only intention he had in mind
Was to free them both from their painful past

Signing of their names on the documents
She packed her belongings and left without a sign
Trying to sustain her children’s expenses
She left a bonanza behind

Now both of my parents are on two separate ends
Yet so close in my heart
This unexpected movement so long ago
Has torn my childhood apart
