Do You Hear It? Poem by Susannah Maher

Do You Hear It?

Do you hear it?
Don't you hear it?
Coming closer?
Breathing hard?
It has awakened.

A 100 years it has been kept,
A 100 years it has slept.
No longer does it dream,
of peaceful cities, hopeful schemes.

It has awakened.
It is everywhere.
It is beneath your feet,
You'll never know when you'll meet.

It lived through the dark ages,
It lived through night fall.
It lives in you it lives in me,
It lives in everyone and everything.

It is coming............
Can't you hear it............

The soft pad of a cats paw,
The harsh swipe of a bears claw.

You must love it and fear it,
If you ever wish to be near it.
