Don'T Be Gone Poem by Wardah Arshad

Don'T Be Gone

Dark skies collect this mournful day
Pitiful glances look her way
Silent questions only she manages to hear
Though so strong, it's all too much to bear.
'Please don't be gone'
The only prayer she makes
As she closes her eyes
Tries a smile she fakes.
Tears threaten to fall from her eyes.
Yet on her lips she manages to smile.
'Please don't be gone'
Her aching heart still whispers
As she sets a rose to once her loved one.
Her body trembles as memories swarm by.
An instant she's transported to her past life.
Smiles and laughs, occasional arguments used to arise.
But never had she been happier in her life.
The soul leaves too quick to notice.
Hoping its not the end yet.
The last breath taken she held him tight
Still whispering and hoping he's not gone by.
One more chance she begs god to give
She would pride the days he called her his.
But as the sun slowly crept to dawn.
She realise, no longer to her he belonged.
'Please don't be gone'
the last time she whispers
As the last faith leaves of his survival.
'He's actually gone'
Her mind whispers back
As she opened her eyes to reality ahead
No longer could she stop the tears from her eyes
She falls to the ground and begins to cry.
No longer will she see his adoring smile,
Or his laugh that brightened her life.
'He's actually gone'
Again her mind speaks
But now it's too late to cry
He's forever left her life...

This made me think of the many women who loose their husbands in war. It is lovely, thank you.
