Don'T Come Crying Poem by Robert Mahoney

Don'T Come Crying

Self-righteous and pretentious
always cut them down to size
Abusive good intentions
but you've never realized
Through all your condescension
You're a monster in their eyes

CHORUS:
Shout at your friends and make nice with your enemies
Chase them away with all your inconsistencies
But don't you come crying to me
What the hell are you trying to be?

something awful burns within you
hand in hand with sacrifice
now you're sitting in your corner
curled up, eyes shut, paralyzed
all your friends have turned against you
shame and guilt, you've paid the price

shout at your friends and make nice with your enemies
chase them away with all your inconsistencies
but don't you come crying to me
what the hell are you trying to be?

you come to me ashamed
so afraid
despised
you come to me in pain
so deranged
closed eyes

Shout at your friends SHOUT
Chase them away SHOUT
But don't you come crying to me
DON'T COME CRYING

Shout at your friends and make nice with your enemies
Chase them away with all your inconsistencies
But don't you come crying to me
What the hell are you trying to be?
I'M DONE TRYING
