Don't Go Far Off

Don't go far off, not even for a day, because --
because -- I don't know how to say it: a day is long
and I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station

this is such a sweet experssion of and aching pain of love of attachment. Really depicts the horrid feeling of the 'if' factor.

Makes me wonder, can people really feel deeply for someone? Can someone really make you feel this deeply? (Report) Reply

Lovesick doesn't even begin to cover the feeling of yearning depicted in this poem... powerful stuff. (Report) Reply

This was very emotional right and a cry for despair. It was really sad. What an expressive writer and talented. (Report) Reply

I believe this poem is incorrectly labeled. The poem listed above (Don't go far off...) is actually Sonnet XLV from Neruda's One Hundred Love Sonnets (Cien Sonetos de Amor) . 'I Crave Your Mouth, Your Voice, Your Hair' is a separate poem called Sonnet XI from his One Hundred Love Sonnets. I think the page should be titled 'Sonnet XLV' or 'Don't Go Far Off, Not Even for a Day.' (Report) Reply
