Don'T Want No Cell Phone Poem by George Hunter

Don'T Want No Cell Phone

I was just sittin’ around
With nothin’ better to do
Thought I’d go uptown
See if anything was startin’ to brew.

Descended to the tubes
And paid my fare
Took the ‘A’ Train uptown
Like I didn’t have a care.

I walked down the sidewalk
Just mindin’ my own
But seemed everyone else
Was talkin’ on their phone.

Just walkin’ or drivin’
With a phone stuck in their ear
Can’t even put it down
And take five to have a beer.

What is so important
That it can’t even wait
Or do all these busy people
Have a red hot date?

Glad that my life’s
Not tied to that thing
Everyone else is like
A puppet on a string.

Can’t go anywhere without
Yo Mama’s knowin’ where you are
You’re never alone even
If you’re drivin’ in your car.

Don’t want Big Sister
Always checkin’ up on me
I may be different
But I want to feel free.

So take all your cell phones
And stick them in the dark
And I’ll have some peace and quiet
Sittin’ alone in the park.

I enjoyed reading this. It's all about rhyme and rythmn. (particularly rythmn) . I like the message in the poem. It almost sounds like it's written like a kind of rap. Best Steve
