Dope Poem by Ted L Glines

Dope

Dope
by Ted L Glines

Can I hope
to be above dope
when I always slope
to the dream of dope
and if the dope fail
and I land in jail
and I scream and wail
will that avail
when my mother beds
all the local heads
gangland feds
and local dead-heads
Jesus don't see
little folk like me
who are sending a plea
to eternity
do I run or stay
does it matter today
can I get away
or must I stay
and my baby cries
she cries and cries
and I tell her lies
as she cries and cries
but I dream of dope
and I always hope
to be above dope
I hope I hope
