Doubtful Wife Poem by Michelle Marfan

Doubtful Wife

It is there in front your face, But you turn ah blind eye
Little clues, big clues
New walk, new talk …….nah!
But it niggles you it nags you it itches you it scratches you,
…..routines are different but still the same
New clothes, new smell…….Nah!
Bills need to be paid It stacking up high high
But you seeing new phone, new ipod, new shoes
….and yet nothing for you……Nah!
Push it to the back of your mind
The baby crying, clothes need to be washed
You need to sleep first…..
your hands feel the empty spot on the bed
Ring, ring, ring, …….
Nothing ……try again
Ring, ring…..
You hope he reaches home safely,
You wonder if there’s an accident…..
Ring…..
Sigh
……
……. Nah!
