WENDELL KURY

(SUNBURY, PA)

DRAGON

Swans, loons, tunes, and pantaloons. Acorns, dice, and tennis balls. Haystacks by the North Sea in late summer.
Goblets, ghosts, elves, and queen bees. Dumfries, Stranraer, Belfast, and Brigadoon. A ferry that sank beneath the Irish Sea.
Odes, wolves, and jelly beans. Killroy, whales, and submarines. The dragon devours the year.

Poem of the Day

poet Paul Laurence Dunbar

The mist has left the greening plain,
The dew-drops shine like fairy rain,
The coquette rose awakes again
Her lovely self adorning.

The Wind is hiding in the trees,
