Dream Poem by Robert Sheridan

Dream

A dream flows through its nightly course
Shadowed, moving – eddying in the currents
Of the past and present – sifting
And straining the falsehoods from the truths
In the pursuit of a chosen good;
Its very essence oft times trampled
By the imprint of your thoughtlessness,
Ingrained in my dream’s depths, as-to confuse;
Deeply I dream in solitude,
Then ambushed by your vigilance
Free-flowing homage to my wishes – shot through,
My murmuring dream recovers, tries to take hold
My right from your wrong resurfaces;
Your external image, fate not sealed – ashamedly demur,
Dream of another, twilight painting – I’m forever yours...
New love, old friends - dream length sometimes breaks
Another opportunity for you to come trickling into -
Always searching for a new dream that will forever hide me.
