Dream Desire - Poem by James Vera
Have I traveled through your dreams tonight?
You've traveled through mine, I hold so tight
Through the dark I fear no nightmares
It's when I awake misery stares
You surrender a smile, I remember holding you
The embrace unbuckles the world, hopes grew
Hopes that never before soar so high
I feel plates in my back shifting, growing wings to fly
A hug, never wanting to let go, only forever hold
Knowing that when I wake, I'll do so cold
I tell myself not to worry, there'll be another night
And when there isn't, death will put you forever in my sight.
