Dream Of Dreams Poem by John Dillenger II

Dream Of Dreams

Where is this place we have found.
A dream of dreams seems absurd.
What could reproduce this sound,
But I can't hear what's the word?
In my dreams I hear this noise,
A beat steady as a hearts.
In my dream men fall like toys.
The bodies piled in dark carts.
A blackened sky opens before me.
A pale light slowly shinning through.
A refuge from the raging sea,
But it is lost without you.
Once again I sit upon cold earth,
Freezing rain pelts my face.
I am so far from home's hearth.
What has brought me to this place?
I realize now the sounds source.
A dead man's scream cuts my ears.
Taken life before its course
I dream only of my fears.
