Dream Squasher! ! ! Poem by Elizabeth Barry

Dream Squasher! ! !

Rating: 4.5

What do we do with broken dreams that hurt so very deep?
Dreams that are made so especially and ones we want to keep
Can we rebuild them desperate to renew or do we let them fall
let our dreams be forever lost they were never ours at all.

Whatever we should just stay strong and take the belting blows
hide our wounds cover the scars and hope it never shows
our dreams are so very special and we don’t want to share
The pain, the hurt, uncertainty of what could have been but daren’t.

So take your broken dreams and wrap them in a ball
And screw them up then squash them down and throw them at the wall
Let them bounce from wall to floor and stamp them on the ground
And hope your broken dreams work out the second time around!

Dreams can make me happy or sad. I had a dream the night and I felt terrible all day. But I must admit I usually have good dreams, which I’m happy about. Good poem.
