Dreaming Poem by Keegan Leonberg

Dreaming

From here the world is inside out,
though now it's clear I'll soon forget
the importance of this moment where
things are simple and complex.

While I've seen you here once before
are you really there when you never are?
I have no thought or trace
of your existence but you stand here as my friend.

So I'll take your hand as we walk the sky
to touch the sun because you're chilled
from decreasing elevation and lack
of words to provide an explanation.

Now the world around begins to fog,
I grip the hand to embrace the life
of which I've created that leaves me now
to resume a place of less value.
