Dreams Poem by Saiyuri Oliver

Dreams

Dreams of a gorgeous beach
White flowers in my hair
Soft white sand under my bare feet
Your hand holding my hand
I dream of a man in uniform
Holding me breathlessly close
His lips on mine in a silent vow
Life will be much sweeter than this stolen moment
Oh, away from prying eyes
Away from the stress of everyday life
I dream and dream of being dressed in white
My family beaming in obvious delight
To hold you close and never hve to let go
Where ever you go my heart has sworn to follow
Dedication and loyalty to that man in blue
Love and praise, not for the Marine, but for you
I dream on of seeing your face in the mornings
Of watching the stars light up in the evening sky
I dream of that Prince Charming
The one wo'll walk with me side by side
But I have to wake sometime
For dreams never last

Before my eyes open
You tell me you love me
And every morning
I thank God not for the dream
I thank Him for the love of my Marine
