Dreams Die Too, And We Move On Poem by Jona PoloRamirez

Dreams Die Too, And We Move On

'Arrange whatever pieces come your way' Virginia Woolf

I thought I died in a dream one night
For reality tells me my heart did die one time,
But then I know my survivor fighting spirit lies
Beyond those vast horizons of clouds up 'yon.

Though grey and lifeless land abound -
Yet moment ago I thought I was in wonderland,
With verdant hills and mountains way beyond -
And now I'm faced with empty, lifeless land.

I thought I'd wake myself from my imaginings
That this was just a nightmare soon to past,
But I must be chiding myself again
With thoughts I could but welcome with a smile.

In a while I'll come out of it like the sun reveals itself
After hiding beyond the bright and verdant clouds,
And face my destiny as patient as Penelope stood hers,
A long wait worth going through, its justification an end
Yet a beginning forever worthy, worthy than my dream.

Now I welcome each day, a foot put forth, a trophy for the day,
The next step to take, my mind need not worry,
The deep heartfelt pain tossed up to the sky
A symbol of my faith, it comes back to me in smile.

My heart may have died yet my mind restored it in time,
The beat of a new song of life - a change to a better life,
Angelic faces lined up in my mind waiting to be danced with,
Like the twinkling, dancing stars on a dark and moonless night.

If such a sight can show my heart to shine with a smiling eyes
Then a welcomed day is worth a thousand faces with a smile,
A foot put forth and forward ready to take on, a challenge
To a dream, and that - I'll take on one day at a time.
