Drench My Soul Poem by bassey etuk

Drench My Soul

DRENCH MY SOUL
Like the sun warms the dreary wintery morning,
Your love like fire from the mahogany wood burns endlessly
Never ceases like the Qua Iboe River, it floods my senses
Like the River Niger, you flood the dry patchy roughness of my yearning heart
If love be so sweet, pure and endless, why visits with pain and betrayal?
Why tears of love and hurt?
Long have I waited for love so true and pure
Weary and thirsty like a traveler through the desert
Peace do I find in thy bosom, but that was not to be!
Like a sojourner, I embark on a perpetual love quest
Must I wait for eternity?
Must I drown in my tears?
Quench my taste with your love and make me sing like a sun bird in summer
For only your love can flood and drench my patchy soul and render me happy!
