Dropped Heart Poem by Holly Jamestone

Dropped Heart

Drop my heart off now
Leave it by the door
Slide it through the slot
Not yours anymore

Give me back my heart
Its goodness shining through
We will reemerge
Without the likes of you

Drop my heart off now
Safe within my care
Back to where it was
More than you could share

Give me back the heart
Send me back the dreams
Shattered they no more
While I mend the seams

As this heart of mine
Gets back on its feet
Shut the door behind
While you now retreat

Drop my heart off now
Safe within my care
Back to where it was
More than it could bear

Give me back the heart
That you never knew
Since you seldom saw
My love shining through

Drop my heart off now
Leave it by the door
Where it now belongs
Not yours anymore

I'm taking back my heart
Guarding all my dreams
Shattered they no more
As I mend the seams

While this heart of mine
Gets back on its feet
Shut the door behind
As you now retreat
