Dumb It Down? Poem by Demetrius JonesDixon

Dumb It Down?

Let me get this straight
You want me to stop talking smart?

You want me to censor audacious intelligence?
That's like telling a plant to stop growing

That's like hearing your enitre life
That 'your dictionary-copying rappers

Aren't really smart
Nerds are uncool! '

You forget, I'm not 11 anymore
I'm 9 years solid that junior, I'm his senior and Caesar

Hola mi nombre es Demetrio
This is 2013, Year of the Snake and Age of Aquarius

You're trying to live in the 3rd still?
Fine, my frequency's two shift's upwards

You want me to stop debating?
Stop making you think about your life?

What's the matter?
The demons starting to yell too loudly, too much chatter?

Wanna sequester yourself back into the cave?
'it's comfortable and familiar', you say?

You are frequently trying to make too many saves
That fear of change has your mind shut off

Due to your apatheitc nature?
That's pathetic and self-loathing?

You gotta pop a poll to feel 'better'?
You feather-weight phonies are distasteful

Hard to stomach like 'tussin
And no good for me like black coffee

You're easy to ignore
I only want to affect and inspire

But apparently you wanna be ignored
Just another generic carbon copy walking around
