Dusk Poem by Vartika Pandey

Dusk

Rating: 5.0

The end and the beginning of wars of existence
When the darkness reigns just to evanescence
I have slain my nocturnal brethren
To mourn the arrival of daylight demons.

Why do I get this transitory tranquility?
To find myself and get lost, nonchalantly
Destroying what has been destroyed
And pretending to, pretending to rejoice.

There is no joy ever found
All comprehend
Yet, survival is bound.
The void in me
Reclaims the genesis of destiny
Mocking whatever has gone far down.

When I know that all my life
I shall be incomplete, longing for strife
Then why these wars fought everyday,
And stories preached all over the night?

Dusk is the time I introspect
And all the answers I have designed.

Life, although too remorseful
But all are, and have to be
Slaves,
Enslaved by innumerable responsibilities.

Everyday battles wreck us
Yet, we have to return
Rise from our ruins
To live
And to burn.

Whatever lost
Shall come back.
Whatever comes
Shall go.
There is no reason to live life
Entwined with bliss and woe.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Dusk is a depiction of similar emotions went through during the time of dusk and dawn. There is only a moment when we get to analyze what we are doing, why we are doing it and if we are supposed to do it or not. The transition from both pathetic life of day to life of night and vice-versa try to persuade a person into giving them up, yet they continue to fight the wars. The question I have asked in the poem is why?

When a person prays from the soul, God himself provides the answers to them. Everyone lives for responsibilities. If someone does not feel them then they are not alive. A life of torment does not mean that we stop living it. We have to find strength from our own self. ‘To live and to burn’ illustrates the eternity of poet’s pain.

This verse is an abnormal mix of suffering and hope. While I support the idea of happiness and sorrow being two faces of a coin, I say that some people see the sorrow side far more frequently to even remember the existence of happiness. ‘There is no reason to live life’- God did not send us with our purposes imprinted on ourselves. We have to find a reason to live, and the life worth living is the one lived for others.
