Dying To A Thought Poem by Amanda Larsen

Dying To A Thought

Dying to a thought
In my freedom I choose you
The one that doesn't carry chains
The butterflies I never caught
This isn't blood inside my veins
I bleed out only what remains
The rest was never mine

What did you read inside my mind?
Why did it take us so much time?
In my freedom I choose you
My only friend, what will I lose?

I will not promise anymore.
I can't be honest anymore
You spit out weapons from your throat
Why won't you take the words away?
I'm freezing in my warmest coat
I need to know that you will stay

'Where will you sleep tonight, my love? '
I will not ask for you to say
But I'll be dying to a thought

Unfair
I'm drowning in selfish despair
I wasn't true inside my cage
but when I got to taste the wind
I thought of you

I can't get punished for my sins
I'm yours because I'm free
And you should not belong to me

I never minded all the pain
You always had to stop the rain
But without rain I cannot see

And I belong to those who never try to own
The chaos inside every tear is yours to take
I wasn't dreaming when I carved your name in stone
And I will never try to call it a mistake
