Early Mornings Poem by Mark Sky

Early Mornings

Rating: 5.0

It's peaceful in the morning

While I'm asleep in bed,

All my cares and worries

Lie quiet in my head.

It's peaceful in the morning

'Till my 'larm clock gives it's shout,

That time again already?

Yes it's time for up and out.

But then it's peaceful in the morning

My lady lying  next to me

She's breathing very softly

As lightly as can be.

It's peaceful in the morning

As she turns her head and stirs,

'Be safe today my darling'

Always her parting words.

It's  peaceful in the morning

Hands round my coffee cup

Drinking down the little sips

That help me stay woke up.

It's peaceful in the morning

As I walk to my car

Little birds are singing

From not so very far.

Yes, it's peaceful in the morning

It's quiet in my car

The hills on the horizon

Yet to reveal our star.

It's peaceful in the morning

Red smudges on the sky

Black silhouettes of unknown birds

Sometimes are floating by.

And It's peaceful in the morning

As the sun gets up and shines

Turning all to blue and gold

Not all, but often times.

It's peaceful in the morning

As I stroll in to work,

I push the numbers on the clock

And all just goes berserk.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I leave for work before dawn every day. Kicking the duvet off at 3: 30 am is not quite so bad when I view it this way.☺
