Early Summer’s Concerto Poem by Jane Cai

Early Summer’s Concerto

When the sun is taking off its shiny dress
When the moon is making up as the main actress
The trees stretch out to pose for a warm caress
Here an early summer’s evening tunes up

The gentle breeze whispers the first movement
The leaves lift their wings and softly touch their instrument
Up and down, fast and slow
Extend to the end of excitement

The murmuring stream wakes up
Clapping the river shore then sweeping back with a hup
Come and go, tender and vigorous
Make the moonlight sonata shining with joys

The sweetest fairies mysteriously hiding behind the veil
Swirl through the woods like a trail
High and low, here and there
Dance lightly in this holy sail

Before the angel in white flies over to reward
The final tune is soon to be played onward
Over and over, time and again
Reach the climax of the early summer’s concerto
