Earth's Journey Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Earth's Journey

Rating: 5.0

Earth keeps turning
About its tilted axis
In an elliptic orbit
Around the hot sun.

Every turn of the earth
Brings us night and day
Traversing the oval orbit
Takes earth a year.

Earth's distance from the sun
Varies just three in a hundred
Tilt about the orbital axis
Is about twenty three degrees*.

Hemisphere facing the sun
Has summer season there
In the other half sphere
It's winter at that time.

Earth without the tilt
Will not have the seasons
That we see over the year
Life'll just be the same.

Earth's journey continues
Day after day after day
Year after year after year
Life's thus made interesting.

* Positions (23°26′) of Tropic of Cancer
and Tropic of Capricorn. Also note
that Full circle is 360 degrees.
