Earth's Shrine Poem by Angela Dodge

Earth's Shrine

Walking in the twilight woods
The shadows rippling through the leaves
Tripping down the path to the glen
Hearing the wind rustling wheat sheaves

Pay close attention to what's around us
We miss the beauty all too often
Cherish moments in the silence
With the sun setting at your back

Dancing stars and glimmering moon
Faint wispy clouds scatter lightly across the sky
Warmth from the day slipping away soon
To the still dark coolness we'll travel by

Connections with the earth make connections with the soul
Connections with the sky to make us feel whole
Connections with the sea to bring us to our knees
Connections with each other, nothing more vital than these

Walking with you in my mind, the shadows ripple
And dance across your face like in the twilight woods
I trip down the path of your synapses
Hearing your words rustling as the wheat should

I pay close attention to you around me
Never missing the beauty of your imperfections
Smiling in the friendly silence
The sun at your back to a point of intersection

The moon glimmers in your eyes
Dancing stars dust you lightly with their first shine
The warmth of your body emanating
Keeping the coolness at bay as we travel her shrine
