Ebony Ghost Poem by Dereck Gibbs

Ebony Ghost

Rating: 5.0

An amorphous mass of zombies
Mindless drones prone to destruction
Screaming for acknowledgement
Invisible, intangible
A ghost, a spectre of the mind
A phantom of reality
Anonymous familiarity
A useless statistic
A minority
Mirrors distorting me
Programmed dreams, fears
Aspiring to think outside my designation
Identity is not necessarily being free
Darkness incarnate
An unseen tragedy
Ignorant eyes dismiss my existence
Blind
Captivated in their bubblelike world
Their hypocrisy a contradiction
A charity they are ashamed of
The light, I bask in it
Hoping, praying to be seen
Afraid, frustrated of being invisible
Forced isolation
Here I am orator of my fate
Lost in a dream world
A walking nightmare
Specified limitations
Fluidity in the unknown
I am invisible
Acceptance of absent greatness
Unrecognized by the world
Potential lost in the caves of abandonment
Fabricated contentment
A torturous existence no longer ignored
Inevitably disembodied
Ethereal, vague, a meaningless performance called my life
Dangled in the depths
Dante couldn’t have dreamt of
Nostalgic, regret, remorse
Profound silence
Marionette trapped by society’s strings
Prejudiced
Another dropp in the black sea
Condemned
Resigned to being a dead man walking
A struggle to give another sight
To see me…a black personality
A black reality

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A very deep and powerful poem about living in the lane of liberty by leaping over limitations. I really like it. Well done my friend.10/10
