Ember In My Soul Poem by Ray Lucero

Ember In My Soul

Fire once raged fervent in my soul
A universe of potential and wonder
Needed nothing to bolster or console
Till growing older stole my thunder

Today slow and steady wins the race
Because body, mind, soul remember
All gets done although at slower pace
Within a wizened soul I fan an ember

The wisdom I offer can be debated
Some will scoff, others will take heed
Myth of “Golden years” is overrated
As every flower dies and goes to seed

The road of life is both cruel and kind
Only God knows that man is predefined
