Tossed into an ocean of rolling waves
With surmounting circumstances seemingly
Beyond control … the kind that enslave
With an intent to send to a grave … schemingly

Is it selfish to wish for another day to embrace...
One that has a promise of a rising sun and purpose
Can hopes for a reprieve deliver saving grace...
A miracle lifts a despondent heart to the surface

There is a ray of light that flows from heaven
It is thin and fragile, but has a strong-willed beam
Challenging fate … dismissing a saber wielding felon…
Being diverted to the ripples of life's continuing stream
