Emptiness Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Emptiness

Once I saw you
Ever since never blinked
People take it for blind.
Once I deserved you
Ever since never desired
People take it for suicide.
Once I talked to you
Ever since never uttered
People take it for dumb.
Once I inhaled you
Ever since never breathed
People take it for dead.
Once I heard you
Ever since never heeded
People take it for deaf.
Once I touched you
Ever since never sensed
People take it for eccentric.
Once I loved you
Ever since never felt
People take it for stone-heart.

Once I wished a life to live
Causing my soul
To sing and dance
Inside the mortal frame
Open to the blessings
Healing and miracles to happen.

Once I realized you
Ever since never knew
Who you are or I am
Never a single touch
Sensuous or sensible
All sketches, paintings,
Sculptures and poetry
Acts of love and life turned into
A comedy and tragedy combined.
