Emptiness Poem by Bob Gibson

Emptiness

Rating: 5.0

Emptiness, that bridge to far, I've tried so many times to cross that bar
I've tried my best, even bought a friend, but that proved fruitless in the end!
time and age are against the old, younger people are bold! I'm told!
relentless each and every day, they all pass by and go on their way
a knowing smile a friendly wave, would these same people surround my grave?
no time to chat, no inclination I've lived my life still on probation
I know we all must die alone, why pay the bill to a silent phone
the television my link with life I I fall asleep without my wife
tomorrow? what will dawn bring, will I hear the Tui's sing
a bellbird deep inside the bush, or feed the common garden thrush
maybe the sun will come out today, showing blue skies instead of grey
there's hope, there's life, I need to feel, the love of life so I can heal

Bob, a very soulful poem, which came from depths inside of you. The answer is to notice, greet with a smile and how are you, all those we meet throughout our day. We all have a need of recognition, it gives us all a reason to be here. My life is now this minute as I type this message, thats what life is all about. So just enjoy the moments, fill them with wonderful poetry like this. Bob

I felt a need, this lonely night, to read something worthwhile. The title caught my attention, for 'tis exactly what I'm feeling. The poem itself surprised me, for I assumed 'twould end on a sad note, and this was what I sought. I was disappointed. At first. I realized then that this was what I needed. Some glimmer of hope. Funny how one is led to what one needs, whether realizing it or not... Quite an exceptional read. Not that I doubted THAT when I chanced upon it.

This brought tears to my eyes, what can I say here, other than Exceptional! The way you offer up yourself in this piece, such vulnerability makes it easy for this reader to feel such raw emotion.. The sure sign of a good writer... :)

Excellent observation, and a brutally honest assessment of the double-edged offering of longevity. 'there's hope, there's life, I need to feel, the love of life so I can heal' closing w/ a hopeful offering always works for me.

Greatest effort of human is to Hide his emptiness from outside world It’s hard to hide that thing which not exists. Poets at least should be happy They keep things out on paper. Time and Age are against the old But they too had them in their youth. There is a saying - A well lived today makes the tomorow easier. I like this poem for its lively note saying Inspite of the emptiness, i love life. The very 'hope' will slowly fill the heart and mind With its drops.
