Empty Nest Poem by Rhonda Baker

Empty Nest

Rating: 5.0

Feeling hollow, empty nest, a hole through the core
Sadness floods in making me tired and sore
I feel left behind; things are out of place
Is this where I fit in, in the old rat race?
I had my life all planned; it was going just fine
Now it is changed, as I feel my life unwind
Now what? Where should I go?
When an empty abyss is all that I know
My life’s barely changed; it's the same routine
Get up do the laundry, go to work and clean
I don't know the next step; please send me a clue
For this veil of emptiness I can't see through
