Endless Smiles For A Dried Peepal Leaf Poem by Gladson Samuel

Endless Smiles For A Dried Peepal Leaf

winter daylight
chanced encounter
heart's delight
starts counter

seasons condensed
thoughts sublime
excuses sensed
déjà vu chime

without trace
unused thread
singular space
running instead

controlled lie
love rotten
It is I
you forgotten.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
dedicated to a woman I admired a lot...
it's about how some people don't want try loving again in order to not hurt themselves by opening up to others who love them anyway.
