English Country View Poem by Micron

English Country View

Rating: 5.0

Through the village flows a glistening silver stream
The crystal clear waters flow as I walk in a day dream
Thatched honey brick cottages line the stream beside
With watchful dark leaded windows nothing from them hide
Watches the tall hedge row of golden silken grasses
Which gently sway in the haze of the sun as people passes
Living clouds of red admirals appear flitting in the sky
While the cheeky chirruping blackbird flies by
The willow branches flow down to the ground
Bright green shoots dangling to reach the stream it found
Sheltering there ducks and white fluffy swans are looking to be fed
They are waiting for the next person to arrive with some bread
In country gardens the old lilac trees are laden with bloom
Send forth to passer byes their heady perfume
The chequered fields are just beyond
Forming a natural yellow and green quilt all around
With silken patches of bright green grass that wont wilt
Speckled around stripped squares of freshly turned soil
And on one square a moving tractor does toil
Decorated with animals sheep cows horses too
Lined with bright hedges it’s a spectacular view
