Engrossed Poem by Aparna Chatterjee

Engrossed

My children
Came and
Asked me

Mummy,
How many
Poems
Did you
Write
Today?

I smiled,
And said

Was so
Engrossed
In Life's
Poetry,
I couldn't
Write any
Poems
Today

[This Poesy is inspired by the Observation that often my children after coming from School take stock of what I've written for the day, asking me what I wrote, how many poems I wrote, where I published them (Boloji / PH / Anjuman) and many other queries about my poems.....which really zaps me that at such a young age, they take so much interest in my poetry. They know that not all poems are for them; they are allowed to read them only when they are Adults, but the ones I feel they can read, I always share with them....sometimes they struggle with the vocabulary and subtle meanings, but then Dictionary, Thesaurus and real life e.g.s and explanations from their Mummy are never far behind ;) Thus they are able to learn many new abstract concepts]
