Enlightenment Poem by chandra Mohan Bhandari

Enlightenment

O, the enlightened one!
Why is it that the state of ‘nirvana’
is not transferable.
Each of us - even if willing,
have to struggle on our own
yet your experiment was not in vain,
it gives a proof, if that’s needed,
what you attained
was not unattainable.
One has to keep trying
leaving the rest to the mind
to seek an equilibrium on its own.
Although the probability is small
as I understand –
amounting to entropy’s overall decrease.
The sacrosanct laws of science
must necessarily be obeyed.

Yet, if I do reach the summit
looking down I would find
others struggling as I do today
why is it that
mass enlightenment
is still a distant dream, and
in the foreseeable future
it's nowhere on cards.
