Envy Defined
Envy is the malicious dislike of another
An ill-feeling with vague reasons we find there.
Contempt that springs from a jealous heart,
Because another is good in the writing art.
Envy seeks only self-exaltation,
It cannot take other people's elation.
It feeds on its own a malignant grudge
Negative in outlook, a spiteful judge.
