Epilogue Poem by Robert Lowell

Epilogue

Rating: 3.1

Those blessèd structures, plot and rhyme--
why are they no help to me now
I want to make
something imagined, not recalled?
I hear the noise of my own voice:
The painter's vision is not a lens,
it trembles to caress the light.
But sometimes everything I write
with the threadbare art of my eye
seems a snapshot,
lurid, rapid, garish, grouped,
heightened from life,
yet paralyzed by fact.
All's misalliance.
Yet why not say what happened?
Pray for the grace of accuracy
Vermeer gave to the sun's illumination
stealing like the tide across a map
to his girl solid with yearning.
We are poor passing facts,
warned by that to give
each figure in the photograph
his living name.

Dear sir/Madam:     How are you? My name is Richard Chan. I'm  is a student and I study at college, although I'm is your fan. you poetry is nice before I read it and the poem is called Epilogue . After I finished the reading, I have some idea about it, you give a special feeling and you said But sometime everything I write with threadbare art of my eye seems a snapshot, lurid, rapid garish, grouped, heightened from life, yet paralysed by fact and I think this poetry is about your life and you think the life is boring, no more fun. I think the life is colourful and it will be exciting. for example: when you want die, maybe you want to do something is very important at last but sometime you can't do that and you will think should be alive, it will be fine and you should believe tomorrow will be better, if you think the life is boring or exciting and you can join the adventure of find something or paint the photograph although you can do something is exciting. don't lose the faith in life, and someday I will think life is not simple and the life will be nice.                          Your fans: Richard Chan                          Date: April,12,2012
