Erev Shabbat Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

Erev Shabbat

Rating: 3.5

How many more years have I to live?
How many more poems to write?
As the words and rhymes come from HIM above,
I will obey HIM Day and Night.

Four Hundred and Fifty-Six to date,
Poems ~ including this one,
Written by Day, Often at Night,
Read by Many and Some.

Not all the Poetry pleases all,
But in Rhyme and Scan I write,
Put into Verses poems all,
To the best of my ability ~that's right.

I need to desist my work tonight,
The Shabbat is almost In,
I'll put away my Pen and Pad,
Lest to break it will be My Sin.

The words in Draft I'll leave tonight,
Typed and Posted after Shabbat they'll be,
Dated today ~ is alright,
Then Tomorrow the words you will see.
