Erosion Poem by Whimsical Wanderer

Erosion

It looms over me

Casting its enormous shadow

It stains everything I do

With its ebony luminescence

And though I try and escape

It wraps me in its embrace once more

Enveloping my hopes and dreams

In its ever expansive wings

It saps my will and my strength

And makes me swoon away with its warmth

I try and defy Fate

I try and etch a new destiny

But perhaps we are meant to be together

Perhaps this cycle is meant to last

Resigned to this road I might be

But still I struggle with all my might

For as sweet as the embrace may be

Stronger yet is the rending of the heart

Perhaps this cycle is eternal

Perhaps the end is in sight

Will I be granted a release?

Or will Fate's plot shine?

Will I leave the embrace with a smile?

Or will the rending take from me piece by piece

Till I am another mindless soul

Lost to the stains of time?

And as I always do

I throw up my sails once more

Hoping the waves carry me to shore

Away from the fatal embrace

To a paradise yet unknown
