Escape To Freedom Poem by Bareerah Bilal

Escape To Freedom

She was here

I could see her

standing outside

the rain pouring down

Her smile I couldn't miss

I ran to the window

and jumped into the garden

as I made my way towards the door

wanting to escape,

to vanish, forever

But there was no hope

for I saw her once again

standing in my path,

blocking my way, to freedom

Freezing in my tracks

I turned around

hoping against hope

that she hadn't noticed

but luck was not in my favor

for a hand grabbed my shoulder

helpless,

I turned around

Her smile was cruel,

her eyes piercing

the moon shone down,

her profile evil

As a scream split through the air

I looked around

wanting to know

who it was that screamed

then the pain came

like hot burning poison

I gasped out

and realized that it was I

the one who screamed

collapsing in the dirt

my way to freedom gone

the hopes vanished

as I gasped for breathe

raising my head,

I saw her face filled with cruel malice

Her voice mocking

as my senses gave way

my eyes closed

having died from her hands

I saw the light ahead,

the way to freedom,

to happiness

for it seemed that death

had been the price to gain it

Note: I wrote this poem when I was sort of young so it isn't exactly....really well written.
