Eternal Father

Come closer, you distant animal,
Let me see your face;
Come closer, even if your light
Or darkness will kill me.

It is not a fair game
Following wrong steps
Into the end-roads
Of an endless labyrinth.

Come closer, you wild animal
Even as a chimera or fata morgana;
Let me see your face
My dearest friend and father.

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
