Even Christians Stumble Poem by Tobbie WhiteBird Crowe

Even Christians Stumble

Would they even care
If they knew
That deep inside I feel my heart is breaking.
That grief like death lies burdened on my soul.
That lonely, unbelonging is how I'm feeling.

Would they try to understand
If they saw
What pain and hurt is hidden in my eyes.
What troubled torment lies within my silence.
And why I can never seem to smile.

Would they speak at all
If they felt
How often close to tears I always am.
The thoughts that despairing greatly draw me,
To the longing wish to finally end it all.

Would they truly love me
If they knew
How cold, misplaced I often feel among them.
How truly feeble my reaching seems to be.
Is God the only one who hears my plead.
