Even Though Poem by Francis Duggan

Even Though

Even though I've never known success and my better days long gone
Always something for to write about so I go penning on
Even though some I know do tell me I ought to call it a day
Their words of wisdom I ignore I'll never give writing away
Perhaps I have a penning addiction a compulsion to write
Though few my verses ever read or bother to recite
But I thoroughly enjoy penning stuff I write more every day
Their words of wisdom I ignore I'll never give writing away
Life has not left me wiser only looking old and gray
Perhaps to karma this is the price that I have to pay
Most people have some hobby and mine is penning stuff
For thirty five or thirty six years I have been a rhyming buff
A poet is not a rhymer those who know better say
But still I go on rhyming with words I love to play
My stuff is out of fashion some call it doggerel
But I hope in the hereafter there is a poetasters hell.
