Evening On The Farm Poem by Marilyn Shepperson

Evening On The Farm

The gentle old cows amble back up the lane
They need no guide, they know where they are going
The pigs have been fed and are noisly munching
The eggs have been collected in straw lined buckets
All the hens are safely shut away from the fox
Clucking sleepily and contended on their perches
The cat, purring, licks cream from a cracked saucer
That the farmers wife has just given her
Her three kittens are now asleep in the hay
While from the open door of the farm house
Comes the wonderful aroma of dinner cooking.
