A good poem indeed - keep in mind that is a rhymed and metered
poem typical of nineteenth century American poetry, not as some
seem to think, an outburst of 21st century emotion!

Relax and enjoy an excellent poem - for its time!

I turned to thee proud evening star - yes, i always seek the warmth of Poe, and this is one of them; lifts me up and keeps me up

i liked how he described the moon. when the moon is full it is easy to see her cold smile.

I THINK HE DESCRIBED EVERYTHING IN THE POEM SO VIVIDLY THAT IT FELT LIKE I WAS LOOKING AT THE STARS WITH HIM.

I agree with Carol; this is one of my favorite poems by Poe.

Beautiful doesn't begin to describe the emotion one feels in the reading.

it conjurs up the very sense of idle desire' Thy distant fire'. it's its own adversary. it lends it self easily to my world. it's an effortless beauty!
my man Poe?
Amber Mutt (5/18/2006 1:12:00 PM)
loved the poem, loved the rhyming. poetry should be felt, you shouldn´t have to pick it apart and analize it to understand it. this is the exact tipe of poem that i can feel.
