Hey guys, really loved this poem. It was as if it had taken me to another place. Kia kaha. Ka kete
Edgar Allan was a very mysterious poet and even his death, .. I think he inserted to this poem his feelings cause by many illness that he has. and gave his last cry at the stars and time to join them.
sorry for my 1st comment. HONESTLY, IT IS A VERY COOL POEM! very soft and soothing lines....very relaxing and fantastic....i like each of the lines and as a whole.it is a great job!
maybe he feels his time is coming to join cool distant light.
I gazed awhile
On her cold smile;
Too cold- too cold for me-
……………
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
………………
And more I admire
Thy distant fire,
Than that colder, lowly light.

Oh, yes. Whenever you got the feeling that you are alone and the moon is reflecting a miserable lowy cold light on you, that time you start dreaming to chase the far stars until you be burned by its fire.
I like the poet way of re-evaluating his situation and setting his new target for his new long journey.
He admires the distant fire like Star than the cold low light Moon near! He is strange and peculiar and unique in thoughts and writings and so, he stands apart from others even today! His experiences in life made him to be so!
its clear that his life has been hard and he really gives it great detail as to comparing it to a summer night. i like it
Everything gives a somewhat dark and gloomy feeling. I don't think Edgar Allan Poe, with his perspective of looking things, could have led a very happy life. His poems are excellent but dark and dreadful to think of... especially in nightmares!
Poe had a thing with the macabre things of life. Bringing coldness to burning stars and the far lost away feelings of life. Looking at the darker side of the spectrum of things in perspective.
A good poem indeed - keep in mind that is a rhymed and metered
poem typical of nineteenth century American poetry, not as some
seem to think, an outburst of 21st century emotion!
Relax and enjoy an excellent poem - for its time!
