Ever Wondered Poem by Peter Swan

Ever Wondered

Ever wondered about the possibillity
of war.?
Of nations fighting for resources and
Earth’s climate demanding your attention
while some lay glued to HDTV.

While mothers work late and children are fed
Toy’s to compensate the guilt.
In some places children make the toys.
Forced to work demanding hours without benefits.
Oil is the glue that binds it all together.
Is there enough left?

Will technology save us, with predictions
of electric cars and cheap flights into space.
Space will be a good place from which to
view incursions into foreign lands.
A justified smash'n'grab from well equipped
armies.
Soldiers with Nintendo's and IPOD’s.

Will a news flash suddenly occur,
'sorry it seem there's nothings left', and
transportation will ground to a halt.
Think of the silence...
Maybe we'll return to the garden and
dig for our food while our children play.
And families will talk and laugh together.
And at night we'll dream of television.
