Evergreen Poem by David Burton Richardson

Evergreen

Amongst the Brown and torn up posts
We see the dark and dampen Leaves
We wish that life could be a host
A sanctuary of inner peace
But deep Black calling beckons loud
We dare not listen
Away the Shroud!
For all we want is that beautiful scene
And to be in the midst of evergreen
When Skies are black with thunderous scream
And Spiders jewels hang like dew
Where is my World of sweet serene?
Where is the land of evergreen?
Away you dark and inner doom
That lowest low shall not be
I will not live within this Tomb
Get away, it's not for me!
I'll stay around the Honey Bee
The Sun, the Fields and Waters sheen
This is the land of evergreen
The Golden disc with burning rays
The Geenlight Glade and shimmering Sky
We see the Birds and Orange haze
The Heath, the Flowers and the dancing Flies
A land so fine and so serene
This is the land of evergreen.
