Every Breath Poem by Jennifer Sollmann

Every Breath

Your skin was so close to mine
You were right there next to me
But so far out of my reach
The sad lyrics sang to my heart
Tears threatened to fall
But the warmth of your body next to mine
Was enough to keep me sane
I tried so hard to not love you
It’s a simply impossible feat
You’re just so perfect and beautiful
My hand twitched with a desire
To reach out and grab your hand
I subconsciously leaned towards you
I wanted to just breathe you in
Soak in everything about you
The harsh wind chilled me to the bone
You kindly offered your jacket
You don’t know what that meant to me
All the little things you do drive me crazy
Because I know you don’t mean anything by it
You’re just being who you are
You’re just being my brother
You’re just killing me slowly
With every breath you take
