Every Day Poem by Timothy Lee Hollandsworth Jr.

Every Day

Rating: 4.5

Young man lays alone
Restless in his sleep
Out on his own
Scrappin for something to eat
He says to himself
I only wanted to be somebody

Beautiful woman
Living in hell
Countless miseries
And stories to tell
Close her eyes
As she throws another quarter in the wishing well

Every day's a battle to be won
Every day's a song to be sung
Every day's one more step
Every day

Teenage boy hates his father today
He fights him hard
And he runs away
Nowhere to go
He's looking for a place to stay

Teenage girl on her way home
She's raped
Everywhere she goes she feels like it's shown
She hates
And she's all alone

Every day's a battle to be won
Every day's a song to be sung
Every day's one step closer
Every day's closer to a smile

A young boy
Has a dream
Playin with his toy
Hears mommy scream
But it's real
And father seems to enjoy

Little girl never cries
Even though she's believin
And livin in lies
Little girl stopped dreamin
When mommy came home on highs

Every day's a battle to be won
Every day's a song to be sung
Evey day's one more fight
Everyday's one more plight

Move on for a while
And hope tomorrow you'll smile
